Carousel is an interactive sound installation. The carousel is surrounded by several speakers standing in a circle. The speakers render a sound piece that is programmed to run from one speaker to the next, hence circling around the carrousel.
Daniel Hafner´s Carousel takes us into the circle of events. It involves traveling, but also hearing and therewith truly experiencing the perception of speed, which is in this case personally controllable. Only those who dare to step on the playground contraption and set it in motion are rewarded with a tone. The sound, which in a familiar world derives from a fixed source, in this case disconcertingly comes along for the ride. The faster i walk, the faster the sound gets as well, although it won´t allow itself to be caught.
